|What is the Minimum Age to take Hunter Education Class? There isn’t a minimum age, but the study material is at a 5th grade level or suggested minimum age 10 years.|
|What if I have a learning disability? If you have disability such as, ADD, ADHD, Dislexia, Deaf, even blind we can try to accommodate with pre-arrangements.|
|What if I don’t read or speak English very well? We do have a limited supply of manuals and tests in Spanish. If you need a class in another language, check with the State Fish & Game Office located in Sacramento @ (916) 653-4094.|
|Can I just show up for the class? No! Because this is a (1) one day class, you are required to have the study material ahead of time to study and finish the review questions in the book. Also, since we have a class maximum of (25) twenty five students we must know ahead of time how many to expect.|
|How much is the class & how do I pay? Cost varies depending on location. However the cost is tried to be kept under $10 per student. Call or see specific class description for cost details. Dave 209-614-1718|
|Do the Instructors make money from these classes? No. By State Fish & Game regulations & International Hunter Education Association rules this is a Not
For Profit program. The class fee you are charged is to cover class expenses, such as: Advertisement, Classroom Rental, Mailing Student Materials, etc.
|How long is the class? The full lenght class is 3 hours Tuesday evening, 3 hours Friday evening, plus 8 hours Saturday and will include range and field exercises, plus (2) hours credit when home study is finished.
The on-line class is 4 hours. This is difficult in that you are soley responsible for the course material. The on-line class is usually scheduled on a Tuesday evening.
|When does the class start & finish? Check in time is 8:30 AM and ends when testing portion is finished.|
|Can I use Hunter Education Certificate to purchase my first Handgun? No, you must take a different test called the ” Calif. Handgun Safety Test”. We can provide the Handgun Safety Card seperately. Call for information 209-614-1718. The cost is $25.00.|
|Is my Hunter Education Certificate good in other States? Yes, your Califorrnia Hunter Education Certificate in recognized in all states that require it.|
|What is the Hunter Education Test like? The written test that is given at the end of the day consist of 100 questions. Out of the 100 questions, 50% is True/False & 50% Multiple Choice.|
|Is the test “Open Book”? No. What would be the point of taking the class if you didn’t learn anything?|
|What is a Passing score? To pass the test, the minimum score is 80%. That’s 80 questions right, out 100! You can miss a max of 20 questions to still pass.|
|What happens if I don’t pass the written portion of the class? If you fail to score a minimum 80% on the test, you can come back the following class to re-test.|
|Do I have to pay again and stay all day in the class? No, But you must re-register for the next class and show up at 4:00PM and re-take the test with the other students.|
|Do I get the opportunity to shoot on the RANGE? Some class locations offer the opportunity to shoot on the RANGE. See the specific class details for whether we will be on the range or not. The On-Line class does not have range time associated with it. If the class includes a Range component, you are responsible for bringing your Eye and ear protection to the range.|
|Why don’t you offer classes year-around? All Hunter Education Instructor’s are volunteers, therefore there is only so much time they can donate.|
