Mariposa Co Women’s Personal Protection and Health Awareness Day

Description: Women’s only event
Come join us in a women’s only forum for free training with certified instructors. Seminars and information will cover women’s health, cancer awareness, how to not be a victim of crime, personal protection with less than lethal devices, and personal protection with firearms. We are also offering a “try it out clinic” before you buy where you can shoot a wide variety of handguns – free!
All training will be with certified instructors, with both male and female instructors available to assist you.
Several raffles will be held throughout the day benefiting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life! Come out for a great time learning new skills!

Event Activities:  All activities are free to attend.  Some shooting events may require equipment or ammunition, see descriptions.  Raffle proceeds will go to the American
Cancer Society Relay For Life.  Sign-ups for each event is first come, first signed up.

Women’s “Try it before you Buy it” event (limited to approx. 40 women, in relays of 5 or 6) Try a variety of handguns before you make a purchasing decision.  A wide variety of
handguns and ammunition will be discussed as will storage and carry choices. You may shoot any of them to make a decision.

Women’s Personal Protection Primer (personal protection shooting skills), (limited to 25-30 for each class.  1 class 9 – 12 noon, and 2 classes 1-4pm) Bring Personal handgun and at least 100 rounds of ammunition to class.  Handgun must be in a case and unloaded.

Refuse to be a Victim Awareness (short course) (approx. 20-30 class size, 1 class 9 – 11am, and 1 class 1 – 3pm) Class discussion, no shooting.  Learn some techniques and
strategies to minimize your chance of being a victim of crime.

Less than Lethal discussion and demonstration class (non-certificate) (approx. 15 – 25 class size, 1 class 11 – 12 noon, and 1 class 1 – 2 pm) Learn alternatives to firearms for personal protection.  Discussion of advantages and disadvantages of different types of devices and try some of them out.

Information booths on a variety of topics, such as:

Lunch will be available for purchase – or you may bring your own

To participate in firearms training you must not be restricted or prohibited due to a court order, terms of probation, terms of parole, or violations of certain sections of law from possessing firearms, ammunition, and or dangerous weapons.  The gun raffle is restricted to: California Residents, 21 years of age or older and who will take possession of the firearm pursuant to complying with all legal requirement’s according to Federal and California State regulations.  Winner must complete initial paperwork in person at the Stage Stop Gun Shop, Mariposa CA.  Gun raffle tickets are $10.00 each and will be available from 10/1/2011 through 10/28/2011 at the Stage Stop Gun shop and Mini Mart in Mariposa, CA and other locations to be announced, the Mariposa Co event on 10/29 at the Mariposa Co Fish and Game Protective Association Range.  The gun drawing will be held at the Mariposa Co Women’s Personal Protection event at the Mariposa Co Fish and Game Protective Association Range, 4443 Old Highway, Mariposa, CA 95338 on 10/29/2011 at 4 pm.  Gun raffle tickets will be available at this event until 3 pm.  Winner need not be present to win.  Proceeds from the gun raffle will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
